About Chaware

Chaware exists to share the soul of Japanese craft with the world — and to bring it, authentically, into your home.

Our mission

Chaware is a media brand and a curated shop devoted to Japanese culture and traditional crafts. We believe the everyday objects of Japan — a handle-less tea cup, a pair of pointed chopsticks, a bowl mended with gold — carry centuries of meaning. Our mission is to make that meaning accessible to people everywhere, and to connect you with the genuine pieces, made by the artisans who keep these traditions alive.

What we do

Two halves of one idea. Learn — we publish in-depth, carefully researched articles on tea, pottery, glass, crafts, food, and the philosophy behind them, written for curious readers around the world. Collect — we curate authentic Japanese crafts straight from the makers in Japan and bring them to you through our shop.

How we work

We write culture-first, never sales-first. Every article is researched for accuracy and treats its subject with respect — no clichés, no "exotic" framing. Our photography is genuine: licensed images, museum open-access works, and our own photos of real pieces. We sometimes adjust tone and colour for a consistent look, and we may use AI tools to assist that editing — but we never fabricate objects or scenes that do not exist, and we never invent facts.

What you'll find

Tea and matcha; pottery from Arita, Mino, Hasami and Kutani; Edo Kiriko cut glass; chopsticks; kintsugi and handcrafts; Zen and wabi-sabi; the seasons; and the food culture that ties them all together — explained simply, for the world.
